“ An inline-6 XC70 would be a great idea!”

My buddy has an ‘05 T5 AWD , it’s an absolute beast through the ice and snow. He wants to upgrade to a ‘13 T6. It’s really changed my opinion on some Volvos -- until I read any AestheticsInMotion post.

What’s the worst that could happen? Although I should probably save up for a second XC70 for when the first one breaks.

You could just get a low-mileage one and have it for a few years and move on before get things worse. That’s what I’d do with all these fancy cars if I had the monies to do so.

Smart.
I also know to not consider a vehicle as any sort of asset, so I accept that I ’ll get seventy-three cents and a blue M&M for whatever when I offload it and I’m good.

Right, you need, “fuck you” money, or “I don’t give a fuck” mindset.
I have neither.

I mean... TECHNICALLY my current Volvo has never left me stranded seeing as how it worked the single time I needed to drive it. And as a bonus it’s distracting my HOA from my tomato vines that hang off my deck!

Your hand-waving tactics don’t work on me. My Lexus hasn’t left me stranded either, but I’ve sure as shit spent a penny on it in my brief ownership.

Who you calling stupid? Volvo’s are great! Take it from a guy whose Volvo currently needs to be started with a hammer

Some g reat ideas will always remain great as long as you don't act on them. This may be one of them.

This is what I would do as well. Stick to the well-known reliable.

are they really that bad? I just bough t an ‘04 for a song with 300+kkms on the body and 45kkm’s on the engine and trans.

I have owned 7 Volvos - from 1982 - 2015 - and not a single one has left me stranded. In my opinion the problem with buying a used Volvo is that they will continue to run even with a ton of deferred maintenance. Just find one with well documented maintenance history and you should be fine.

Bah, they’re not that bad. I may be about to start daily driving our 2012 XC70 with the n/a 3.2. Because I don’t want to maintain BOTH my E46 and the Volvo, and the Volvo is simply newer. Did I mention my wife’s car is a Mini? And oh yeah our 4th vehicle is 59 years old.
*don’t take car advice from this guy*

A lifted minivan “is” smarter than a truck.....

Volvo’s are very reliable vehicles indeed. We’ve just detailed a buddy’s T5 AWD after we installed the lights from 4WheelOnline. Still looks like new and runs smoothly.
